$3 is our floor, not our ceiling
Why we chose free-forever for the core and a lifetime license for the power users.
The "SaaS-ification" of everything has led to a world where we are all paying $10/month for a dozen different apps that we barely use. For a tool as foundational as a notes app, we believe this model is broken.
Incentive Alignment, Not Charity
We offer SwiftyNotes Core for free. Not because we're a charity, but because it aligns our incentives with yours. If the app is great, you'll use it every day. And if you use it every day, you might eventually want the Pro features.
By keeping the core free, we ensure that the largest possible number of people can benefit from a private, native writing tool. Your data is never the product; the software is.
The 3-Product Family
SwiftyNotes doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's part of a family that includes SwiftyScribe and SwiftyClip. This "cross-subsidy" model allows us to keep the individual prices low while maintaining a sustainable business.
Lifetime ($99) as a Signal
We offer a $99 Lifetime license. Many VCs would tell us we're leaving money on the table by not forcing a subscription. But for us, the Lifetime license is a signal of trust.
When you buy a lifetime license, you're saying you trust our roadmap. In return, we promise that you will never be "grandfathered" out of features or forced into a new tier.
"We will never sell your data, pivot to ads, or gate existing features behind a new paywall. That is our promise to you."
The $3 Tip
For those who don't need Pro but want to support the development, we've introduced a "Monthly Tip" of $3. It's the floor of our pricing model. It keeps the lights on and the updates coming, without the pressure of a high-stakes subscription.
We're building SwiftyNotes for the long haul. And that starts with a business model that is as transparent as our code.
